Edit: we got her started. Checked for spark and it had none, however the hole in the valve cover for the spark plug/ ht lead was filled with oil on one cylinder. We cleaned that our and waited for a while and it fired. So either the oil bath the lead sat in shorted the coil out, or more likely the car had gotten damp while parked on the grass and eventually dried out enough to start while we worked on it.

Schaeffts lincoln mk8 refuses to start. Starter spins fine but no start at all. About to check for spark. It has fuel (because me and 4muddyfeet went to buy some) no idea if thats getting into the engine but doesnt smell like its flooding. Its a 4.6 v8. Any ideas guys?

Lots of FoMoCo cars from that era have inertial fuel cut off switch, you just push it to reset it, it might be located in the trunk near the air ride service switch

Something, something, should’ve bought something reliable and European.

But on a more serious note; there are 3 key things here, right? Spark, fuel, starter. You mentioned them yourself. Double check the former two.

What do you mean the starter spins? Does it turn the engine? Or does it spins on its own without turning the engine itself?

You’re gonna have to check for sparks of the engine cranks, but that doesn’t look very good. Did you guys park the car on the grass for the night? If so it might have not liked the humidity...

Has fuel but is fuel getting there? Does the engine turn but not crank?

As previously mentioned, either fuel cut off switch or dead fuel pump. The 4.6l has coils, so it's unlikely none of the would have spark.

They also blow fuel pump fuses in addition to the fuel cutoff switch mentioned below. The cutoff switch is either in the trunk or in one of the kick panels, and the fuse is with the fuses, duh.

Next headline “On Fire, Now What?” I kid most likely the fuel pump shut off switch as others have mentioned Fotds are known for this.

There was a big group across the field but other than that it was pretty empty. It doesnt have any amenities other than a toilet and they dont advertise so its not the kind of place to fill up fast. But it was cheap and they let us pull up all our cars together and just camp in them. Plus there was a nice little pub closeby.
